A sad end for “Growing Pains” co-star Andrew Koenig
The sad news appears to be that Andrew Koenig is dead, probably by suicide.
Koenig is perhaps best known by Gen Xers as Richard “Boner” Stabone in one of their favorite sitcoms of childhood, Growing Pains.
His father, Walter Koenig, also is pretty well-known, as he played Anton Chekov on the original Star Trek and subsequent movies.
What many didn’t know until recently is that he suffered from depression and cleared out his Los Angeles apartment a few weeks ago. He disappeared a few days ago in Vancouver, amidst the hubub of the Winter Olympic Games.
A body was found today and it’s believed to be Andrew Koenig’s.
So sad.
